YMCA Licensed Child Care

YMCA Purdy's Wharf Child Care Centre is a work place centre that gives priority to families employed by tenants of the Purdy’s Wharf Office Complex. We offer care to children ages 3 months to 5 years old. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm excluding holidays.

We are licensed for 62 children within 5 classrooms; infants, toddlers, rompers, juniors, and seniors. Our centre implements the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum. This is a YMCA national curriculum developed by the lead association, the YMCA of Greater Toronto, that helps children in our care discover learning through creative play and aligns with primary school benchmarks.Children will be learning through play. Child’s play provides the foundations for language and literacy; for mathematics, science and technology; and for the arts. It provides Early Childhood Educators with the skills to prepare spaces that are more conducive to learning and the best practices to encourage quality learning experiences.

Outdoor/Gross motor opportunities are provided on a daily basis for all age groups. These include playground time, terrace play, community walks, swim time (depending on season and classroom) and planned shared experiences. All age groups participate in outings in the community to places like museums, libraries, parks and playgrounds.
