Y-PHD (YMCA Physical Healthy Development)
Be Active, Be Healthy, Building Assets
Children who participate in Y-PHD in 2009 increased their daily physical activity level by 24.2% while increasing their physical fitness level by 15.2%.
Program Description
Using Developmental Assets as a foundation, the principles of YMCA Healthy Child Development, HIGH FIVE and CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Heath), The YMCA fosters cooperation and understanding in our program to enhance childrens' development of self-concept and self-reliance. Daily physical activity is a priority.

Y-PHD Locations
The Y-PHD program deliveries recreational activities for children in grades Primary to Grade 6 in 8 schools in HRM, before school, during lunch and after school. Hours of operation vary according to school bell times with opening at 7:30 am and closing at 5:30 pm. In service care provided.
